Where the gold goes, on record
In a jewellery factory, metal leaves a central desk, goes through casting, filing and polish, and comes back lighter. In the factory we built for, it left on a paper slip and the difference was explained from memory.
We replaced the slip with a production system where the weight arithmetic is done by the database itself, not by the screens, and every movement is written to a record that is never edited afterwards. The difference between metal issued and metal returned is calculated, not remembered.
The screens cover planning and production, the metal ledger, stock, outside work, refining, quality, dispatch, returns, purchase and reports, all in the trade's own words. See also custom ERP software development.
Lot register with the route through casting, filing and polish, drawn with practice data.
